Secateur care
Maybe
you«ve got an old rusty unusable secateurs like this one, but don«t give up hope, |
|
|
If the secateur is very rusty, a good tip is to put it in vinegar mixed with water.
We used a mix 1/5 of vinegar and 4/5 water. It is
preferable to take it apart before you put it in the solution, but this one
was so rusty we couldŐnt even do that. |
|
|
These are all the parts of this secateur.
One reason to put them into pieces is to
liberate the blade, to make it easier to sharpen. |
|
|
There is
many kinds of springs. The one to the right is the more common one. |
|
|
For
sharpening you need a sharpening stone, and water, the stone should always be
wet. IMPORTANT!: A secateur should only be sharpened
on ONE side, the other side must be flat, have a close look at your secateur
and you will understandÉ How to? You press
the blade to the stone in the angle that it has been sharpened before, make
sure not to put it to upwards so you make it round instead of sharp. Move the
blade in small circles until the blade seems sharp enough. The first
time it may require some patience, but do this often, and it will be pretty
quick. |
